lyrics
I tumbled down a deep ravine
Bottomless, or so it seemed
Swam across the darkened air
I didn’t care
I floated to a sheltered cove
Took a breath, and then I dove
Trekking through the diamond stars
Not very far...I crashed the car
Not very far...
Compulsion lights the way
Compulsion drives the --
The voice rang out inside my head,
Disembodied, dull and dead,
An echo of a lesser place
Without a face
I twist and turn to prove I'm wrong
But this martinet is just too strong
There's nothing in a wanton town
But talking down...embrace the frown
We're talking down...
Compulsion lights the way
Compulsion drives the --
Compulsion lights the way
Compulsion drives the --

A fantastic album. I can see why they didn't continue under the name The Evens, as it's a different sound with the bass added. Coriky is the Evens + Joe Lally from Fugazi on bass. If you can imagine The Evens with a slightly more funky, aggressive sound like Fugazi... that's what you get! And there's no way that can ever go wrong. What a great debut album!! smiledozer
